Embrace SYSTEMs for Efficiency: Saving Time, Energy, and Money

Save YourSelf Time, Energy and Money...

Alyce and I are speaking at the Star Power Conference in Denver this week. I’m speaking on systems. And when I think It’s cheesy and old, but the acronym is still true. Save YourSelf Time, Energy and Money (SYSTEM). Think of systems as pencil and paper. If you can write down a repeating pattern of something to do, that’s a system. If this, then that. After it works on paper, then layer in tools (technology) and a team (people) to make it all work better.

Here’s an example:

When it comes to managing business finances, I use a different credit card for each business and I don’t commingle them. That is a system. Systems almost always sound too simple. Then I add technology (QuickBooks) to read the credit card statements and digitize it to make access and understanding easier and faster. Finally, I hire a person (a bookkeeper) to input the QuickBooks data, produce reports and make (human) analysis and recommendations.
