AI Moves From Answering Questions to Getting Work Done

March 12, 20251 min read

Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s Product Lead, called 2025 “the year of the agent” (no, not that agent)—the point where AI shifts from just providing answers to actually performing tasks.

OpenAI just introduced a platform that makes that shift real. Instead of just chat, AI can now take action in practical ways that matter for small business owners and real estate professionals.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Web Search: AI can search the internet, find relevant information, and cite sources, making research faster and more reliable.

  • File Search: Instead of manually digging through documents, AI can now organize and retrieve information from your files more efficiently.

  • Computer Use: AI can now interact with your systems, handling tasks inside applications—automating workflows, managing data, and reducing repetitive work.

For real estate agents, this could mean AI helping with market research, CRM updates, or drafting property descriptions. For small business owners, it’s a way to offload routine tasks and free up time for more important work.

AI isn’t replacing people, but it is becoming a more useful tool. The question now is how to make the most of it?
