Do you have a daily huddle in your business? Recently, I've been reminded of its importance. Over the years, we've used various formats: in-person stand-ups, Zoom meetings, conference calls, and more. We've adapted our approach as technology has evolved, our team size has changed, and our needs have shifted. However, a consistent thread in our business is that a daily communication routine focused on the most important things saves us a lot of time throughout the week, helps prevent drift, and keeps us focused on our key results.
If you're considering implementing a daily huddle, here are some questions you might want to ask:
Who should be in the huddle? Who do you need to talk to every day (probably in the morning) to ensure you're set for the day?
Should it be synchronous or asynchronous? An example of a synchronous meeting is a phone call or an in-person huddle. An asynchronous method could be having everyone post in a Slack channel at the beginning of the day with "My big rock for today is..."
What are the key topics? If the purpose of the huddle is to maintain focus on the most important things, what are the few critical topics you need to cover daily to keep your business aligned with its true north?
