In my last newsletter, I mentioned that I had recently met Jon Gordon at a retreat I attended; well, I just recently picked up his latest book and have been reading it this week.
In Jon Gordon's book The One Truth, he highlights the idea that when we find ourselves in a low state of mind, it's essential to acknowledge and accept what we're experiencing without trying to immediately change or fix it. This recognition allows us to understand that feeling down or facing challenges is a natural part of life and doesn't indicate that something is fundamentally wrong.
Gordon emphasizes the concept of not searching for immediate answers or looking for external circumstances to blame for our emotional state. Instead, he suggests that by realizing our power to shape our own mindset, we can rise above difficult situations. It's a reminder that we are not victims of circumstance but rather have control over how we perceive and respond to life's highs and lows.
By staying in the game and not jumping off the roller coaster, even when faced with discomfort or pain, we cultivate resilience and find the strength to ride the wave back up. This mindset shift allows us to maintain a positive perspective and embrace the natural ebb and flow of life.
