October 22, 20241 min read

I had the privilege of hearing Ford Taylor speak this past weekend, author of Relactional Leadership: When Relationships Collide with Transactions Practical Tools for Every Leader. He dropped some knowledge bombs on us - one was his acroynym: VPMOSA. Here’s a way to think through your mission in life and a series of questions to ask yourself to get increasing clarity and confidence in your future.

VPMOSA: Mission in Life

  1. Vision: Where are you going? What are you going to accomplish?

  2. Purpose: Why are you accomplishing that vision? Why do you do what you do

  3. Mission: What sets you apart? What are you willing to do that no one else will do to fulfill your vision?

  4. Objectives: Identify 3-6 objectives that you want to accomplish in the next 12-18 months to move you towards the VPM.

  5. Strategies: Identify 2-3 strategies to fulfill each objective.

  6. Actions: Identify specific actions needed to meet each strategy within the next 12-18 months.
