This week, I attended a session with Brian Boero, the founder of 1000 Watt Consulting. They conduct extensive buyer and seller surveys to gain deeper insights into the real estate market.

Here are his key insights on what buyers truly need. As he mentioned, the response is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, yet it contains a profound truth. If you are a real estate professional—or a sales professional in almost any field—learning to articulate your value is crucial. Ensure these seven points are embedded in the marketing and conversations you have with your customers and clients:

  1. Give me the confidence to undertake something both scary and life-changing.

  2. Ask and find answers to the questions I haven't thought to ask.

  3. Inform me of what is and isn't a problem with the house I want to buy.

  4. Use data and knowledge derived from experience to guide my offers, helping me understand what's sufficient, and what's excessive.

  5. Protect my finances from a listing agent who is obligated to secure as much as possible for their client.

  6. Leverage your relationships with everyone from house cleaners to loan officers to ensure I receive everything I need.

  7. Help me avoid making mistakes that could lead to bankruptcy, divorce, or overwhelming regret.
